Big Enough And Small Enough To Serve You

Picture
People say that business is complicated, and that's especially true in the home improvement and contracting industry.

Here, companies are selling a complicated mix of goods and services, along with professional acumen and knowledge of complex home systems.

Then, too, those home systems are changing rapidly. Outdated systems are breaking and failing, and homeowners and property owners have to decide whether to fix or replace. Hardly any of these property owners went to school for home systems or anything even slightly related to that, or roofing and exterior issues.

All of that makes it challenging to select a company for home improvement and property maintenance issues. How do you figure out which way to go with contractors? Sometimes it seems arbitrary, and a lack of clarity becomes a problem. We think we have the answer, though.

Licensed, Bonded and Insured

At BB we have put the appropriate investment into being licensed, bonded and insured to serve customers well. Everyone's familiar with the idea of the shade tree business that maintains a lean business model by not investing in these things. But then if there's a problem later on, it becomes a really enormous and terrible problem, not something that’s easy to fix.

A Family-Run Business

At the same time, even though we have the credentials and bona fides of the big boys, we are a family run local business, and so you get the responsiveness and communication that you need. Big generic corporate firms often make it increasingly difficult for people to schedule a job, pin down details and see that job through.

For those who think that this is a minor detail, if you've ever tried dealing with a company that doesn't have a good communication model, you may have seen a simple job mushroom into a frustrating and enervating mess!

Local Washington DC Properties

Properties in the nation's capital need work as much as other properties, but there are unique challenges including massive traffic problems, access issues and, for any cost-conscious property owners, money issues.

If you need someone to point exterior brick or coat a roof, for example, you're looking at how they will do it, and how much they will charge. And you'll get some differences across the board. Call BB and talk about what to do for your WDC property!

One of the most crucial aspects of renovation planning is determining your budget and sticking to it. Remember to set aside a contingency fund for any unforeseen costs, as well as incidental expenses like eating out during a kitchen renovation or even staying in a hotel for a night or two. It's natural to want a top-of-the-line remodel, but you might just need a few inexpensive modifications to make your home appear more valuable. Before you lift a hammer, do your homework and make a budget.
